Deep Relaxation – Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, is a guided Yogic meditation that leads participants into a rich state of calm where the body, mind and spirit are given opportunities to rest, regenerate and heal. There is very little movement and no yoga experience is required.
We begin this session with some gentle, chair-supported movement that prepares the mind, body and breath to open. Nothing is required of you except an open mind and heart, a willingness to set an intention, and the ability to stay awake, silent and still. In other words, you simply close your eyes and listen as you are guided into deeper and deeper states of consciousness.
This practice is perfect for anyone who wants to deeply rest and relax. It is especially beneficial for those who with suffer chronic pain, struggle with anxiety/depression or simply feel overwhelmed or stressed in their lives. (Min. age is 16 yrs).
You will need:
- Warm, comfy clothes that allow the body to stretch and move. Dress in layers as the body tends to become quite cool when in deep states of relaxation.
- A water bottle
- An eye mask to block out light (optional)
- A blanket or shawl (optional)
