The Joy of Kirtan! Bhakti Yoga Chanting
September 19 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Come and experience Kirtan !
Musician and Kirtan devotee Anna Leeming leads us on this evening of Chant.
Kirtan is a form of devotional chanting whose roots go back over 500 years to India. It is a form of Bhakti Yoga (yoga of devotion) and has the power to open the heart. The singing is accompanied by musical instruments and rhythmic drumming and the audience is encouraged to participate by chanting, clapping and playing. Kirtan is a wonderful way to connect to our deeper selves. It is a group musical expression of the divine spirit within. You will not be able to resist the urge to join in!
“Chanting is an opening of the heart and letting go of mind and thoughts…a way of being present in the moment.” Krishna Das, Devotional Chant Artist
Chanting has many benefits as it:
– helps your breathing to slow and deepen
– relaxes your busy mind, leaving you feeling more at peace
– enables you to more fully experience the present moment
– fosters a feeling of oneness and connection to self and others
Join us in a supportive, welcoming environment as we immerse ourselves joyfully in sound. The words to the chants will be provided.
Please bring a cushion – please no shoes in the chant room. Chairs will also be available.
